Chapter 12: The Shutterling Silence

Myrine’s escape ended in disaster, and she is re-captured by Beldarius. Myrine, aware of the rivalry for the Infinity Charm between Beldarius and his wife Eugenia, bargains with him and obtains permission to walk around the castle grounds. In a move designed to break her spirit, Eugenia clamps a Shutterling bracelet around her wrist—parasitic energy-vipers that “mute” a Sentinel’s connection to the realm. Myrine is forced to admit that she needed her supernatural powers, which were “muted” by the Shutterling bracelet. To rid herself of the Shutterling bracelet, she needed a specific herb. Accompanied by her halfling cousin, who came to her aid, she approached the kitchen gardens in search of the herb, only to be waylaid Faeyet, the Fosterling shapeshifter.
